01/09/2010 The Management Institute of Paris (MIP) joins EDHEC Business School

The Management Institute of Paris has just entered a partnership agreement with EDHEC Business School.

MIP was founded by Bruno Bich (BIC), Martin Bouygues (Bouygues) and Claude Bébéar (Axa) in Paris in 2000. Under the presidency of Marc Odendall and the management of Benoît Arnaud, MIP has primarily focused on in-house executive education (over 10,000 managers trained). It also offers an MBA (Executive and Global) and a post-high school programme over five years, with both these programmes currently concerning a small number of students.

Olivier Oger, Dean of EDHEC Business School and Benoit Arnaud, Dean of MIP, underline that this partnership is an opportunity for the two entities to strengthen their academic programmes, their Executive Education activities and their links with large corporations in Paris, especially via EDHEC's strategy of delivering training and producing research that have a real impact on businesses.

The partnership between the two institutions will be accompanied...

15/07/2010 Bill to promote equal representation for women on company boards and professional equality: our professors have their word to say

Monique Valcour and Valérie Petit were heard by France’s Senate Law Commission on 15 June during the vote on the bill to promote equal representation for women on company boards and professional equality.
They pointed out that most management and corporate governance research into the composition of boards of directors and management committees underlines the benefits of increased female representation, whether in terms of professional equality, business performance or good governance (transparency, control of management teams, board meeting attendance rates, etc.).

Several items of research, notably those undertaken by Kanter (1977), have also underlined the importance of significant – and not...

EDHEC Business School continues its development with the ambition to become internationally recognized as a leading European institution in management research and education. The School has chosen to give itself the means of achieving this ambition, by opening, for instance, two new campuses, one in Lille and the other in Nice.

But the School will not be stopping there! It intends keeping up this momentum through an audacious development programme focusing on four major projects:

- Running the new Lille and Nice campuses to the highest of international standards.
- Accelerating international development in London and Singapore.
- Recruiting 43 international faculty members to enhance both teaching and research.
- Doubling financial aid to students to encourage diversity in student profiles.

The School needs all of us to help in funding its future development. Together, through our donations, let’s contribute to realizing this ambition for EDHEC to impact throughout...

23/06/2010 EDHEC-Risk Institute and Rothschild set up a research chair on inflation-linked corporate bonds

EDHEC-Risk Institute and Rothschild have announced the creation of a research chair entitled ‘The
Case for Inflation-Linked Corporate Bonds: Issuers’ and Investors’ Perspectives’. The purpose of the
research chair is to support research undertaken at EDHEC-Risk Institute on the benefits of inflationlinked
corporate bonds both from the issuers’ as well as from the investors’ points of view. The chair
will also focus on contrasting the analysis, in corporate finance, and perceptions of inflation-linked
corporate bonds both by issuers and investors. The chair is led by Lionel Martellini, scientific director
of EDHEC-Risk Institute.
According to Professor Martellini, “While a dominant fraction of inflation-linked debt is issued by
sovereign states, there has been recent interest amongst various state-owned agencies, municipalities
and also corporations, in particular from the utility, financial-services and real estate sectors, to issue
inflation-linked bonds. On the supply side,...
